"A People who have a past, have a history and culture. A culture with history will never die, conquered? maybe, forgotten?... NEVER." The aymaras and other indigenous existed thousand years before the Incas in South America, they lived in the highlands of the Andes which is actually Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. The indigenous people has survived as well as their culture. Evidence of this is Bolivia rich in music and culture. The evolution of the music peaked with the Incan empire. Wind instruments (zampoñas, quenas) and percussion (bombo, chajchas) instruments were used, after the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century who brought string instruments. The indigenous copied and made a small guitar (charango) to hide from the invaders. Only a hundred years ago to play zampoña, quena and charango were forbidden in Bolivia, but today freely we can enjoy everywhere the mystified sound of those instruments. "Expresion Bolivia" is a Bolivian band, one of the most popular Andean pop bands in London and Europe known for playing music of the Andean regions of Bolivia and beyond. 'Expresion Bolivia' was founded in 2001 by Bolivian musicians in London, since then has been performing the rich and cultural Andean music around the world. The group has a unique style compared to other traditional Andean bands. They have created their music style over the years by using the traditional rhythms purely from Bolivia. EB. |
